European Payments Regulatory Package

1-DAY COURSE ON EUROPEAN PAYMENTS REGULATORY PACKAGE (EPRP)

Target audience:

Aimed at both providers and users of payment services, and market participants such as new market entrants, vendors and CSMs. Fosters an understanding of the four elements of EPRP, their individual scope, impact and timing, and the market impact and opportunities they are meant to bring about.

This should be of particular interest to Payment Institutions and eMoney companies that are attempting an entry into the business.

Approach:

Starting with SEPA, the SEPA Migration End Date and Payment Services Directive 1, we look at where the European Commission wants to take the payments and cards markets – into eCommerce and mobile, kicking off with their green paper.

Then we look at each element in EPRP and look at its contents, intended outcomes, interconnections with other elements and issues:

  • 4th EU Anti-Money Laundering Directive
  • Funds Transfer Regulation
  • Payment Services Directive 2
  • Interchange Fee Regulation

We look at the timing of passage through the European process, the effective dates where transposition and technical changes were needed, and the pitfalls along the way.

Benefits:

  • Comprehensive
  • Goes to the key commercial, technical and marketplace challenges
  • Poses tough questions on the business cases for new entrants, and for the European Commission’s agenda itself
